Ben was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. In December of 2008 he moved to Grand Rapids, MN to get married to his lovely wife Erica, who grew up attending West Cohasset Chapel. Following their wedding, they decided to make WCC their church home. They are currently living in Coleraine, just north of Trout Lake with their two daughters, Emerald and Briel. Ben recommends the book The Power of Commitment by Jerry White. His favorite scripture is Philippians 4:4-7.
Joe came to West Cohasset Chapel as our Pastor in July of ’08. On Sundays, you’ll find Joe preaching at West Cohasset Chapel. Joe serves alongside his colleagues in the spiritual and practical care of the Church. He was born in Topeka, Kansas, was raised in South Florida, and after spending his teen years in Texas, he attended the University of Texas, Austin School of Theology and Abilene Christian University. He and his wife Nicole have two children. One book he thinks every person should have in his or her personal library, aside from the Bible, would be Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan.
Zach is married to his wife Lindsey and they have three children: Adelyn, Vivian and Isaiah. He grew up in Hill City, MN and has been attending WCC since returning to the Grand Rapids area with his family in 2014. Zach teaches PE and Health at RJE Middle School in Grand Rapids. Here at WCC, he is involved in the Men’s Ministry, worship team and enjoys serving in other ministries as well. A book he would recommend is The Cross Centered Life by C. J. Mahaney. One of his favorite scripture passages is Romans 6.
Hello! My name is Patrick Mathias. I am married to Julie Mathias and have three children: Taylor, Rachel and Zachary. We live just west of Grand Rapids and have been attending WCC since 1991. Julie and I help with AWANA, and in the past have served in Sunday school, youth group and various other ministries. I am a writer and teach writing at Itasca Community College. I am currently reading a biography on Dietrich Bonhoeffer by Eric Metaxa, and I highly recommend the daily devotional My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers. A favorite scripture of mine is II Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.”
In October 1980, while we were engaged, my wife Chris and I came to know Jesus, together as our Savior, at a Lowell Lundstrom crusade in Grand Rapids. In late 1993, we started attending West Cohasset Chapel (WCC). We have three daughters: Angela, Erica and MiKayla. As a family, we have always cherished the love and prayers we receive from our brothers and sisters in Christ at WCC. A favorite book, which is actually a study guide by David Jeremiah is, “Knowing the God You Worship.” My favorite Bible verse is, Genesis 1:1a “in the beginning God.”
