A Prayer For You Today

Dear Friends,

We prayed the following prayer together as a congregation this first Sunday of the New Year. I wanted to share it again or for some for the first time.

We arise today and begin this year

Through the strength of Christ's birth.

Through the strength of His crucifixion with His burial,

Through the strength of His resurrection with His ascension,

We arise today and begin this year

Through God's strength to pilot us:

God's might to uphold us,

God's wisdom to guide us,

God's eye to look before us,

God's ear to hear us,

God's word to speak for us,

God's hand to guard us,

God's shield to protect us,

From the snares of the devil,

From temptations of vices,

From everyone who wish us ill,

far and near, alone and in multitude.

Christ with us, Christ before us, Christ behind us,

Christ in us, Christ beneath us, Christ above us,

Christ on our right, Christ on our left,

Christ when we lie down,

Christ when we sit down, Christ when we arise,

Christ in the heart of every person who thinks of us,

Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of us,

Christ in every eye that sees us,

Christ in every ear that hears us.   Amen
