My Prayer For You Today

My prayer for you today.  A prayer of repentance.

Father, on our own, we are not fit to come before you. We have no righteousness of our own to offer, and we possess nothing to sacrifice worthy of the great debt we owe because of our sin. We have not always done what is just and right, but instead have frequently done what is unjust and wrong.

Father, thank you that our Lord Jesus Christ is our righteousness and having made the perfect offering to atone for our sin. He walked humbly and perfectly with You every day of his life. He loved mercy and burned for justice.

Please, by Your Spirit, please work in us true righteousness by faith. Give us a deep and abiding joy in the gospel, a joy that neither our circumstances nor our sin can take away. Fix our eyes increasingly on the everlasting inheritance of righteousness that is ours in Christ.

Thank You for the new heaven and new earth, which is coming, where we will finally be able to enter Your presence by Your grace alone, standing on the righteousness of Christ alone. In His Holy Name, we pray. Amen.
