A Prayer for You Today (1)

November 14, 2022

Keep me in the warmth of your love

Keep me safe, safe and sound

Keep me in the strength of your arms

Keep me safe, safe and sound

Lift Me Up, by Rhianna

This is a song I have changed a bit and turned into a personal prayer.

This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses since he had the same temptations we do, though he never once gave way to them and sinned.

Hebrews 4:15

(Two) prayers for you today.

Give me Jesus

Lord, you have given me a portion in this world.

You had given me credit and a reputation among others.

But what is all this to me if I am without Christ? If I do not have the one who gives grace to my soul the one who is my All in all?

Lord, you have taught me this day that the distance between you and me is so great that without a mediator, I perish forever.

So whatever else you deny me, give me Jesus. Amen

A Cry for Renewing Grace

We cried to you, God, for renewing grace. We lie at your footstool and cry, “help Lord, or else we perish.”

Create in us a new heart and renew a right spirit within us. Renew us in the spirit of our mind and renew us in our inner soul.

Take away this old mind that is so blind, so vain, so carnal.

Take away this old will that is so obstinate, so perverse, so rebellious.

Take away this old conscience that is so partial, so seared, so senseless.

Take away this old heart that will never delight in, comply with, or submit to you.

Let all things pass away, let all things become new.

You brought this world out (into existence) of nothing with (your) word, can (you not) with your word work in me this new creation? Say the word, and it will be done. Break down these strongholds that keep us from you.

You call for our heart, Lord it is yours. Though I have given my heart to other things, it is yours. It cost you dearly. So, enter in. Take possession of it. Come in and bless us with your presence. Break it open with almighty power and let it no longer shut you out. Amen

David Clarkson, Piercing Heaven: Prayers of the Puritans

God bless you and help you in every way this week. With all my love in the Lord Jesus Christ.
