A Prayer For You Today

Dear friends.

I've begun re-reading The New City Catechism backward. Let me explain. Instead of beginning with question number one- What is our only hope in life and death? I started with the final question, number fifty-two- What Hope Does Everlasting Life Hold for Us? The answer given is as follows.

It reminds us that this present fallen world is not all there is; soon, we will live with and enjoy God forever in the new city, in the new heaven and the new earth, where we will be fully and forever freed from all sin and will inhabit renewed, resurrection bodies in a renewed, restored creation.

Until that glorious day, we have some living to do. May God give us grace to live it well.

A prayer for you today.

O God of all grace whose glory it is always to have mercy:

Be gracious to all of us who have gone astray from your ways,

And bring us again with repentant hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of Your Word, Jesus Christ your Son.

Please give us the liberty of that abundant life you have made known to us in your Son, and give us grace, O Lord, to answer readily the call of our Savior Jesus Christ and proclaim to all people the Good News of His salvation, that we and the whole world may perceive the glory of His marvelous works; to the praise of Your glory forever and ever.

Amen.
