A Prayer For You Today

Dear friends.

In an article from last week's New York Times, a prayer often credited to Thomas More (1478-1535) was shown to not originate from him. It got me curious.

The article had a link, which sent the reader to another link, which led to the prayer for you below. The prayer is plain, honest, and earthy, but no one knows who wrote it.

A prayer for you today.

Father God, please give me a good digestion, Lord, and also something to digest.

Please give me a healthy body, Lord, with (the) sense to keep it at its best.

Please give me a healthy mind, Lord, to keep the good and pure in sight,

Which, seeing sin, is not (surprised), but finds a way to set it right.

Please give me a mind that is not bored,

That does not whimper, whine, or sigh.

Don't let me worry over much,

About the fussy thing called I.

Please, give me a sense of humor, Lord, give me the grace to see a joke,

To get some happiness from life, and pass it on to other folk.
