A Prayer For You Today

Dear friends.

This past Sunday, we learned a bit about Barnabas from Acts chapter 9. Barnabas was Saul’s advocate to the disciples who did not believe he was a follower of Christ.

Jesus was the very first Barnabas. Saul, as all of us, cannot claim to live a sinless life. However, in Jesus, we have an Advocate who pleads our case not based on our perfection or performance but on Christ’s propitiation—the suffering and death of Christ on sinners’ behalf.

A prayer for you today.

O God, your never-failing providence sets in order all things both in heaven and earth:

Put away from us, we ask you, all hurtful things,

And give us those things which are profitable for us; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who is the peace and assurance we are always righteous before You and forgiven not because of anything we did or did not do but because Your Son Jesus sacrificed His life for us at the cross. He paid the price and is our advocate for eternity.

Thank Father for answering this prayer for Jesus' sake, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
