Question: Since Christ has died for us, why do we still have to die?
Answer: Our death does not pay for our sins. Instead, it puts an end to our sinning and is our entrance into eternal life.
Heidelberg Catechism Question #42
Dear friends.
Death is not a friend. Death is not natural. Death is an enemy. Death is sin’s consequence. Only in Christ has death been defeated.
A prayer for you today.
Gracious God and Father.
In death’s sorrow, remind us that You are near to the brokenhearted and those crushed in spirit.
Thank You that through Christ, death will never have the final word.
Comfort all those mourning. Strengthen us in the strength of Your promises, and the hope of the Resurrection.
We praise you for the Incarnation of Christ, for His Cross,
His precious Death and Burial, His glorious Resurrection and Ascension, the coming of the Holy Spirit, and the return of our King—the Lord Jesus Christ, who has defeated death by His death.
Jesus is alive, and we praise His name forever!
Amen.
May God comfort us with His love.
