“Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.”
“Now I will take the load from your shoulders; I will free your hands from their heavy tasks.”
Dear friends.
Rest is a necessary part of the created order. It is God’s pleasure to remove our burdens, give us rest, and let the creativity of the Gospel speak truth into our physical bodies. Rest by design is needed. May God give us the grace to take it.
A prayer for you today.
God and Father, you wisely made summer in our context different.
Sunlight is longer, our needs change, and our schedules are tempered by different things according to our households.
Oftentimes, summer is when most people have time to take a restful vacation. For Jesus’ sake, I simply ask you to please provide for your people all they need and more besides to enjoy a restful, peaceful, enjoyable vacation.
Whatever is needed, time, scheduling, transportation, a destination, peace, monies, please, according to your goodness and kindness towards us, your children, provide.
This is not beyond your power, and it is in keeping with your generous and gracious nature. Thank you, Father. All glory in the answering belongs to you alone. Through Jesus Christ, we ask. Amen.
May God bless you in this half point of summer.
