A Prayer For You Today

Dear friends,
“Make new friends and keep the old. One is silver and the other gold,” is a lovely little line to keep in mind as we soon relocate.
A prayer for you today.
Father of mercies,
As we prepare to gather in this new place, You have prepared for us, we pray earnestly for the people we have not yet met but whom You already know and love. Use this transition to deepen our faith, enlarge our love, widen our welcome, and increase our witness.
You have told us that You “made from one man every nation of mankind… having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place, that they should seek God” (Acts 17:26–27). So, we ask that You would draw near to our new neighbors with kindness and peace. Let our neighbors, strangers, doubters, and sufferers find among us the beauty of Christ and the hope of the gospel.
Give us hearts shaped by the love of Christ, for “the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost” (Luke 19:10). Make us gentle, attentive, and full of compassion. Keep us from pride, fear, selfishness or indifference. Let every welcome, every act of service, and every word spoken bear witness to Your Son and Your grace.
May strangers become friends, friends become brothers and sisters in Christ, who have come to know and believe the hope of the gospel—our Lord Jesus Christ. For His sake we ask this. Amen.
May God help and bless us in depth and breadth we have never known before.
