A Prayer for You Today (1)

January 21, 2025

Dear friends,

Friends, what a lovely word. You may have many friends or a few. However, to have a friend is a gift.

This past Sunday, we learned Paul and Barnabas (who were friends) had a terrible argument. Their argument did not hinder the advance of the Gospel, but it divided them for a very long time. May God help us in these things.

A prayer for you today

God and Father, we know that there are times when it is easy to love one another, and we know that there are times when it is hard. There are times when we mess up and times when others mess up, and the whole relationship can seem so fragile.

Please, for Jesus’ sake, by Your grace, forgive us of our fickleness and teach us always in the classroom of Your grace, for we have no strength within ourselves to draw from.

Therefore, if we are to love one another well and love the world as Christ, it will require that You constantly fill us and shape us so that we might choose again and again in the small moments of our common life.

Please give us the grace to choose the beautiful but sometimes hard path of second place, of cherishing, loving, forgiving, caring, speaking well of one another, and working well with one another as each day passes.

And thank You, Lord Jesus Christ, amid all the routines and rhythms of our lives. Our excitements, our disappointments, our obedience, and our sins that You are for us. You are forgiving and sanctifying us in the warmest and sweetness of ways, never leaving, never forsaking, always caring for us, just as You did in Your suffering and death on the cross. Amen.

God bless you, my friends,

Pastor Joe
