A Prayer For You Today

December 2, 2024
Dear friends,
We began our Advent Season this past Sunday (December 1). Our first Advent reading came from Luke 1:5-25. The sermon text was from Isaiah 50:4-11, and the Advent prayer from Sunday will be a prayer for you today. Merry Christmas!
A prayer for you today.
God and Father, no one is without sin. Perfection in these bodies will evade us until our exit from this world. This is why You sent Jesus, and this is the beauty of Advent.
Therefore, we praise Your great name for the mercy of righteousness by faith, imputed righteousness by faith- guaranteeing the forgiveness of our sins and acceptance into Your forever family.
We confess we have sinned and will sin; please forgive and strengthen us in our daily battle with sin.
Please give us Your grace to live a more reasonable life of patience, forgiveness, and understanding toward others. We do not want to become a judgmental, angry monster constantly condemning and accusing others. Father, that is not Your way for us. Pride, rage, or arrogance; each is our enemy. We want to be like Christ.
So, please, this Christmas season, deliver us from sins' power. Thank You, Father, we are saved from sins' penalty. Thank You, one day, we will be saved from sins' presence. Until that day, please strengthen us so that every gain will lead us to praise You, the living God, through Jesus Christ.
Finally, may we know Your gracious blessings in every way this Christmas season. May our homes, tables, time, gifting, receiving, public worship, private moments, and our tenderness toward our fellow men and women abound to the praise of Your glory and for Jesus' sake. Amen.
May God richly bless your first week of Advent.
