A Prayer For You Today

December 9, 2024
I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
This past Sunday was our second Advent service. The theme was love. We learned from John 15 that for Jesus, love and friendship go hand in hand. He laid down His life for His friends; He loves and shares with His friends the same way God loved and shared with Him.
Dear friends,
Father, because too many people are wandering in the wilderness. Because too many people are sitting in the valley of the shadow of death. Because too many of our conversations are laced with conflict and bitterness, we pray for Your love to abound and for You, in Your mercy, to open up hearts to believe.
Because people all over the world are suffering, we pray for Your love to abound.
May the light of Your love overwhelm the world!
May the light of Your love overwhelm the valley of the shadow of death!
May the light of Your love take away whatever would prevent Your love from being born among us and those whom we care for or struggle with.
Remind us, Father, we need not be afraid, even now — even now — Your love is overwhelming the world. Jesus Christ reigns on earth as it already is in heaven. He lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
Amen.

May God keep us in His love.
